Joris Laarman

Joris Laarman was born in the countryside of the Netherlands near the border of Germany in 1979. In 1998 after one year of fine arts he started his study at the Design Academy Eindhoven. After graduating cum laude he gained notoriety with his functional rococo radiator heatwave that is acquired by international renown museums and won several awards. That same year he started his own independent joris Laarman studio and laboratory. His studio concentrates on design and architecture by weaving style and concept with logic and engineering. The studio is working for several well known international design companies like Flos, Vitra, Swarovski, Droog, Jaga, artecnica and more.

His laboratory is working on a collection of highly unique experimental works with gallery Friedman Benda concentrating on finding new steps in the never ending evolution of objects. He contributed in articles and seminars for Domus magazine and he was a guest teacher at European universities like the Architectural Association London,  Rietveld Academy Amsterdam and the Design Academy Eindhoven.
